Papua Studies Unit LPPSP FISIP UI

The Papuan Studies Unit (UKAPA) LPPSP FISIP UI is an institution located in the academic environment of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Indonesia and is located under the coordination of LPPSP FISIP UI since 2020. UKAPA focuses on discourse and development studies in Papua. Established since April 9, 2012, under the name Papua Center UI based on the Decree of the Dean of FISIP UI No. 188/H2. F9. D/HKP.02.04/2011, with the hope of giving a new color to the development of Papua which has involved many parties, both at home and abroad. With the various problems that exist in Papua and the challenges that will be faced, it is hoped that it will be able to play a more concrete role in solving various existing problems, as well as play a significant role in helping the Papuan people build their land independently.

The vision of UKAPA LPPSP FISIP UI is to become an academic and cultural bridge for the progress of society in the Land of Papua.

The mission of UKAPA LPPSP FISIP UI is to work together in the context of developing and improving the quality of human resources (HR) in the field of education and research at Cendrawasih University and Papua State University; increase research cooperation in the field of strategic social, cultural, and environmental development; and develop publication, promotion, and documentation materials to achieve Papuan cultural justice in Indonesia.

The objectives of the UKAPA LPPSP FISIP UI organization are strengthening institutions and human resources in the field of higher education; promotion and communication of Melanesian culture within the framework of nationality; and the development of inclusive development studies and models. Our expertise lies in research, consulting, and training as well as capacity building, specifically we focus on the Papua region.
