Center For Anthropology Studies (PUSKA ANTROP)

The Anthropology Studies Unit was formed based on the vision and mission of the Department of Anthropology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Indonesia (UI) in carrying out the tridarma of higher education.

Responding to the development of research institutional reform at the university level, the Center for Anthropology Studies with other study centers within the scope of the FISIP UI has merged in a research governance institution under the LPPSP FISIP UI. Despite undergoing an institutional transformation, apart from the Department of Anthropology in terms of the management coordination chain, we continue our vision and mission in line with the Department of Anthropology.

The Anthropology Studies Unit visions are developing the Anthropology in Indonesia, both basic and applied research, that appreciates cultural diversity, for the welfare of society; and developing anthropological science in Indonesia and be actively involved in research and dissemination collaboration with various social humanities disciplines at national, regional, and global levels.

The Anthropology Studies Unit missions are conduct anthropological research and dissemination of research outcomes for academic, government, private and public audiences; carry out community service through participatory empowerment, assistance, advocacy, and strategic studies; organizing conferences, seminars, training, and workshops, both national and international levels; and develop selective publications on ethnography, working papers and monograph books.

The Anthropology Studies unit carries out its vision and mission through a reciprocal relationship between research, publication, and the development of training and courses. Each other is bound in a sub-unit with the name of the research cluster. This research cluster becomes the main organ that develops a study topic that contributes to the development of the theory and methodology of Anthropology. Built in a bottom-up manner, each cluster identifies the research superiority and the availability of resources at the Universitas Indonesia.
